Regency Boy puts up a good fight to claim 2nd place at Beverley

Regency Boy (Sea The Moon x Lady Freyja) got into the winners enclosure for the first time with an impressive run in the 8.45pm ‘Connexin Broadband For The Brave Handicap’, (Class 6), (0-55, 4yo+) over  1 mile 2 furlongs, on good to soft ground at Beverley yesterday (Tuesday 18th June), for owners S & S Racing.

Ridden by Dougie Costello, Regency Boy was keen in the early stages of the race towards the rear of the pack, but made good headway and kept in touch with leaders after 2 furlongs. Despite being a little short of room he threw down a challenge 2 furlongs out, and pressed the winner all the way to the line in the final furlong before being eventually beaten by a neck.

“We’re really pleased with Regency Boy’s run, he’s certainly come on from his last outing at Leicester in May gaining some valuable experience. He showed great heart and battled well coming through the pack to challenge the eventual winner, so we look forward to getting him out again soon, but he will need a bit of cut in the ground, said Steph.
