Pepsi Cat on fire again

Pepsi Cat on fire again Steph Hollinshead Racing

Pepsi Cat (Tamayuz x Music Pearl) was back to winning ways in the ‘Sky Bet Request A Bet Handicap’ (Class 3) (0-95, 4yo+) over 5 furlongs on good to firm ground at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile Course yesterday (Sunday 19th May 2024).

Pepsi ridden by regular jockey Dougie Costello, was held up in the opening furlong but was always in touch with the leaders, making headway and going second 1 furlong out, ridden inside the final furlong and led inside final 110yds, keeping on running through the line and claiming victory by 1¼ lengths.

“We’re running out of superlatives to describe Pepsi’s continued progress, she just keeps improving and this was another powerful run, expertly judged by Dougie who gets on so well with her,” said Steph.

“It’s her 7th victory to date and with 9 other places (7 seconds and 2 thirds) its a really impressive strike rate from 28 races. It takes her prize money past £44,000 and I’m delighted for her owners and long-time supporters of the yard Debbie and Dave Hodson. Pepsi is a lovely mare who we are so pleased to have on the yard. She’s also building up a bit of a cult following amongst racing fans and recently featured on ITV’s ‘Home Schooling’ segment on The Opening Show,” added Steph.
