Miss Mocktail earns place in return to action at Southwell

Miss Mocktail 3rd Southwell Racecourse 24 May

Miss Mocktail (Getaway x Identity Parade) made a welcome return to racing yesterday (24/5/23), in the ‘At The Races App Form Study Mares’ Maiden Hurdle (ARC Summer Novices’ Brush Hurdle Qualifier) (GBB)’ over 2 miles at Southwell, for owners Lysways Racing.

‘Mocky’ under the stewardship of Richie McLernon at odds of 50-1, travelled really well and stayed on to get third place, in what was only her 2nd race in two years following an injury sustained back in the summer of 2021.

“Its a welcome return for Mocky, we’ve had to be very patient with her following the injury coupled with ground issues over the last few months, but today she really really enjoyed herself, travelled and jumped well so getting a place was a bonus and she will come on for that run,” said Steph.

Meanwhile on the same card Alchemystique a previous long-odds winner at Southwell, competed in the ‘Follow @attheraces On Twitter Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) (0-100, 4yo+) over 2 mile 4½f.  ‘Misty’ was travelling and jumping well patiently ridden by Richie Mclernon, and coming into the business end of the race was all set to challenge before a loose horse interfered with her momentum resulting in an error on the second from last.

Both horses came back sound and with better ground we look forward to seeing them run again soon.
