Ground and pace not ideal for Albeseeingyer at Doncaster

Ground and pace not ideal for Albeseeingyer at Doncaster Steph Hollinshead Racing

Albeseeingyer (Al Kazeem x Magic Destiny) saw the ground go against her today (Sunday 16th June) in the 2.10pm ‘Speedy Gonzales Sam Hay Handicap’ (Div I), (Class 5), (0-75, 4yo+) over 7 furlongs at Doncaster, for owner Mr Ray Bailey.

Although the going was officially given as ‘good’ for the first race, it was clear the ground had changed due to a downpour of rain and the rest of the card was changed to ‘good to soft’. This certainly didn’t favour our mare under the stewardship of Dougie Costello and the lack of pace in the race also hampered her chances of getting back into the winners enclosure, eventually finishing in 6th place.

“Baby ran her race well enough but the lack of pace went against her. We were expecting them to go a decent gallop and we’d slot in behind but that never materialised so where we were in the race it was very difficult for her to quicken and make a challenge,” said Steph.

Although she has won on soft ground before, she was rated 15lbs lower, so as you climb up the weights it becomes more difficult. The family breeding lines prefer good ground so hopefully we will get some better weather over the coming weeks and get her head back in front, ” added Steph.
